Top Young Scientist of the Year
THREE McNair Students were part of the group of FIVE Brevard Public Schools middle school students are among 400 national semifinalists still in the running for the title “Top Young Scientist of the Year” and more than $100,000 worth of scholarships and prizes.
Malik Rahman (McNair Magnet School) was selected for his project Keeping Filtration Devices Clean, Naturally.
Forrest Allen Berndt and Daniel Schra (McNair Magnet School) were selected for their work titled Music and Your Ability to Concentrate.
These talented students were selected from nearly 2,000 invited applicants from a pool of 75,000 top student scientists across the nation. The Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge is the nation’s premier science competition for middle school students. Brevard has been fortunate to have semifinalist winners every year since the awards program began in 1999. Forty national finalists will be announced in late September. |
